ANNOUNCING AN OLD DISCOVERY!
The son of one of America's largest collectors of antique clocks and furniture, our founder discovered BLACK WAX over 25 years ago as a method of cleaning clock cases without damaging the original finishes. He found that early waxes, cooking greases and other dirt had often hardened into a hard "alligatored" coating. Until then, stripping and refinishing had been the only solution; but he devised a method of adding a mild abrasive to carnauba wax and rubbing with the grain to clean the wood. Once this "alligatored" coating was removed, the original finish was usually intact underneath.
Since then, BLACK WAX has been sold to antique dealers and museums to clean and restore old finishes on all fine wood furniture. CRYSTAL WAX and SIENNA WAX, carnauba paste waxes for protecting your new finish, were later added to our product line.
